SWsoft Virtuozzo for Linux 3
SWsoft Virtuozzo for Linux 3 is an efficient and flexible server system for environments for Linux Productions. Virtuozzo allows you to run various servers that are virtual on an individual host system. Already, the Linux users have the choice of User Mode in VMware, Xen or Linux’s Server software. These systems employ an approach of a virtual machine, creating the environment that camouflages the guest operating system that it is being run on the actual hardware. Using the VMware Server, for instance, it’s accomplishable to operate Windows 2000 Server on a system running Linux. This featured adaptability comes at a cost, and the processing components of offering a virtual machine are such a way that a system can run out of the box when various systems that are virtual are running at the same time. Virtuozzo uses an entirely different approach, making some copies that are virtual of the software as well as OS, and thus using these virtual copies to create Virtual Private Servers (VPSes). Since there aren’t any overheads of the virtual machine, the hardware can assist even more servers that are virtual before the processing power runs out.
Virtuozzo uses a template system to configure and create the VPS and the associated applications of it. Templates assure an OS or application will only make a copy in memory and one copy on disk for the entire VPSes that may use them. This minimizes the utilization of resources and lets much higher number of servers that are virtual to run. Every VPS runs with their own IP address and offers a total working environment that supports services and users and operates in the similar way as any other Linux system. Application software may also be installed into the unique VPS in the same fashion as you would do on a normal server. But the application requires a copy in memory and a copy on disk for every VPS that uses it. It will not be shared between multiple servers.
There exists a couple of management interfaces on offer. The Virtuozzo Management Console that runs on Windows provides control over all the monitoring, system setup and management features. It’s utilized to gain access to the VPS systems and all other host systems running on them. Using this software, you can create a number of virtual servers, manage VPS groups and upload templates with a few clicks of the mouse. The Virtuozzo Power Panel software (VZPP) that is browser-based provides access to the routine monitoring and maintenance tasks, such as recreating, restoring and creating any VPS. VZPP can be run on browsers such as Mozill Firefox browsers or Internet Explorer, and is used to monitor and manage an individual VPS by utilizing its unique IP address. Since each and every VPS contains its own set of groups and users, each one could be allotted to a different management if needed. The secure shell facilitation provides access to a command line for full control of the VPS.
This software may reallocate the resources to meet the changing loads. Unique VPSes can be designed to control end-of-year or end-of-month scenarios, or even other unusual or infrequent situations. Each one can then be preserved until needed, saving resources and time. But, all the servers should be running the same operating systems. The Linux host can only assist the virtual servers that run Linux. But this isn’t any problem for producing environments, where the requirement is to run systems that are stable, on various servers and control large volumes of traffic with several mixes and workloads. In such types of scenarios, Virtuozzo plays the job well.
